SWORD Piston Upper Receiver Group-Enhanced (PURG-E), 5.56x45 (M855A1)

The Piston Upper Receiver Group-Enhanced (PURG-E) is based on the SWORD Defense Systems Mk-15 IDC platform in 5.56x45. The PURG-E boasts SWORD's proprietary short-stroke gas piston system and is one of the most accurate and softest shooting piston upper receiver groups found on the market today. With the addition of the M855A1 to the DoD inventory, program officers and weapons maintenance personnel have noted higher rates of malfunction and critical failures of components on existing program-of-record weapons. SWORD Defense Systems has addressed this problem by reinforcing critical components and adjusting the gas system to address the higher pressures generated by the U.S. Military's new round. SWORD Defense Systems is proud to offer the PURG-E, which is a nearly indestructible upper receiver group that reliably functions with both legacy and new ammunition, providing a degree of accuracy not found on the market today. The PURG-E is offered as a stand-alone upgrade for existing DoD 5.56 platforms, or integrated into the Individual Duty Carbine-Enhanced (IDC-E) as a full system.
